This book is about reading Scripture, and reading it as God's word addressed to us. This is a practical book, intended to help someone who wishes to begin reading Scripture, or wants to mature in his understanding of Scripture. It focuses on our using Scripture to grow in the Christian life, and on the way that God does address his word to us through the words of Scripture.
Part I of this book is on Reading Scripture. It provides practical suggestions for going about the reading of Scripture, for growing in understanding of what we read, for listening to the Word of God speak to us through Scripture, and for using Scripture in our prayer. Its purpose is to help Scripture "come alive" for us.
Part II is on The Word of God, and is concerned with how God does reveal himself to us through the words of scripture. It discusses how we must approach Scripture as the word of God spoken to us in words of men, and how Scripture reveals God himself to us, forming us into his people.
