Alternative Futures For Worship IV: Reconciliation / Peter E. Fink (Edited)
No other sacrament today is in so much need of imaginative revisioning as is reconciliation; no other sacrament could benefit more from dialogue with the social sciences. Fink's work delivers both thoughtful dialogue and imagination and thus gives hope for the future of reconciliation as well as models for its realization. An excellent work!
Finally we have the volume that personalizes the sacrament of penance by situating it as the answer to our most urgent longing for a peace unscrambled by evil, guilt, and fear. The richness of the theology of reconciliation is clearly discussed and gracefully complemented by creative and reverent rituals for adaptation and use.
This book grows out of the authors' conviction that the sacrament's future will be no less rich and transformative than its past. It is a valuable contribution to insuring that the future happen. Throughout it is concerned with real issues and with real people. I found particularly interesting the suggestions regarding reconciling groups.
