The Second Vatican Council has made us all aware of the priesthood of the laity. This means that every Christian is a minister of the Gospel - an evangelist; we are called to witness to Christ's redeeming love. How do we do this? Carlo Maria Martini, Archbishop of Milan and former Rector of the Pontifical Biblical Institute and the Gregorian University, suggeets some fresh and immediate ways of implementing the Gospel message, but he speaks less of doing than of being-being open to God's Word of saving love, being a channel of that love to a searching and often bewildered world He stresses that before we can evangelize others we must ourselves be evangelized.
