For Christ's Sake: A Reply To Honest To God

NOT for many years has a book on theology caused such widespread interest or occasioned such heated controversy as the Bishop of Woolwich’s Honest to God. It has been hailed by many as a great, liberating work and by an equal number as a book which destroys the very foundations of the Christian Faith.
What, then, is the truth about it? In this book a distinguished scholar who has, by turn, been Chaplain of an Oxford College, a curate in Mayfair, a Missionary in India and a Research Fellow in Sheffield University, has examined the book in detail and weighed its arguments, and found them waiting.
The Religious Education Press, which as its name implies concentrates solely on educational books for the extension of the work of education in all the churches, is glad of the opportunity of extending its activity to help young people and older folk to reach a sound judgment over the controversial question of Bishop Robinson's book. We believe that it is only by the constant interplay of scholarly minds in a charitable spirit, that real theological dialogue is maintained and the cause of Christian Education at all levels can be advanced.
