The epic story of the prince Rama and the epic of the Bharatas, two ancient works in Sanskrit, are presented in condensed form with helpful introductions to each chapter and an epilogue to each epic by the translator. The epics are translated into rhymed couplets. Dutt, a native of Bengal, India, studied in Calcutta, and served in various civic post.
