Truth And Method

Prof Hans-Georg Gadamer has, in Truth and Method, brought together classical studies, literary criticism, legal theory. Philosophy, and theology in a synthesis which has in return proved of seminal importance for each field separately. Gadamer’s magnum opus is a fundamental restatement of the German tradition of reflection upon the nature of interpretation. An already established work of genius, and one which looks as though it may out to be among the most basic contributions to philosophy this century.
Written in the 1960s, TRUTH AND METHOD is Gadamer's magnum opus. Looking behind the self-consciousness of science, he discusses the tense relationship between truth and methodology. In examining the different experiences of truth, he aims to "present the hermeneutic phenomenon in its fullest extent.
