Whatever Mgr. Knox Preached was invariably felt to be exactly right for that particular congregation. Yet, in book form, the same sermons lust as invariably appeared to be exactly right for everybody else as well. Priests meditated on those addressed to schoolgirls, the laity enthusiastically recommended to one another sermons addressed to Priests, his Oxford sermons are used as bedtime reading for grandmothers.
These conferences are for boys and girls still at school. But we shall be very much astounded if these are the only readers who take delight in them. It-wouldn't surprise us to hear of Poor Clares reading them in the refectory, or a Bishop on a plane studying them with pleased amusement.
What of the book's title? The conferences were not given to the same School as the sermons in the famous Slow Motion books, but they were given to people toughly of the same ages. We felt they belonged under the same title.
