A New Christology

This book examines the basic problems faced by dogmatic and biblical theologians confronted
by traditional christological formulations. In a series of three essays, Karl Rahner explores
these themes with his unusual ability to find in the doctrinal traditions a truth relevant to the life and questions of modern men and women: Who is Christ for us today? How are we to
understand his death and resurrection? How is the Church Christ's continued historical presence in the world? How is our hope in God's continued self-revelation as our "absolute future" to be reconciled with the finality of revelation in Christ?
The dynamics of the Church's tradition is the point of departure for Rahner; the biblical scholar, Wilhelm Thusing, begins within the dynamics of the New Testament, and then tries to close the gap between the approaches of the exegete and the dogmatic theologian by developing a transcendental Christology from a biblical way of thinking.
