Christian Maturity

How are we to reconcile the Bible’s tremendous portrait of Christian ‘adulthood’ with the miserable failure of which we are so conscious in daily experience? Should we expect anything more, this side of heaven? Is the solution to be found in seeking a crisis experience by which our life will be transformed – or is there some other answer? Beginning with Paul’s remarkable statement in his Epistle to the Galatians: “it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me’, the author goes on to reveal something of the wonder of the scriptural concepts of indwelling Christ and the believer’s union with him. At the same time he makes plain what this means in terms of Christian character and the resources available and expression in everyday life.
