The publication in the United States of America of Father Valentino Del Mazza’s book The Good News for the Liturgical Community will make available insights which he has gleaned from the Sunday Scripture readings in cycle “C” of the Lectionary. Here Father Del Mazza presents his biblical and doctrinal reflections in a clear, straightforward manner. His meditations contain many noteworthy citations of the words of the last Popes, the documents of the Second Vatican Council, and the writings of St. Augustine and other significant authors as well. Each of his reflections is followed by some brief suggestions of the pastoral dimensions of the message. I am hopeful that the content of this volume will bear much fruit in the lives of those who will read it carefully and explore the implications of their Christian heritage ever more profoundly.
