Animals Of The Bible "From The Lion To The Snail"

The various animals mentioned in the Bible were associated with the fauna existing in the Holy Land and its neighbouring countries over 2000 years ago. Only a handful of species noted in the scriptures were imported through trading with other kingdoms in Africa and Asia. Several of the animal species were not easy to
identify and some of them even received different names in the various English translations of the Bible. At times, the original Hebrew version had to be consulted in order to decide on the final identification. Even so things were not always simple and conclusive, forcing the author to leave some of the most speculative and controversial references for a more extensive study. Regretfully, not much has recently been published in writing on the animals mentioned in the Bible. Therefore never before has book of this quality been published using high quality authentic color photographs, most of them actually taken in the wilderness of the Holy Land. Such an introductory publication on animals of the Bible was only possible through the collaboration between the author, a well known nature photographer himself, and Yossi Eshbol who has devoted his life to photographing the wildlife of the region. This original photographic record will surely serve as an inspiration for others to do more comprehensive studies on the subject, hope-fully leaving no stone unturned and cross-referring to the zoogeography of the region and various archeological findings of both human artifacts as well as animal remains.
