Hidden Riches: The Eucharist In The Carmelite Tradition / Eltin Griffin (Edited)

Vatican II taught that the Eucharist is 'the source and summit of the whole Christian life'. There has been surprisingly little written on the Eucharist in the Carmelite tradition. This is partly because the Eucharist is so central that it has almost been taken for granted in the mystics of Carmel. Inspired by the "Year of the Eucharist", experts from the Carmelite family came together to examine the Eucharist in their heritage. The result of this study has been the unlocking of riches, which have perhaps been taken as obvious in the Order, but are insights that many have found inspiring and enriching. The studies range over 800 years, from the primate Rule to contemporary reflection on the Eucharist and contemplation, and includes such figures as St Teresa of Avila, Therese of Lisieux, and Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity.
