The theme which he chose is very topical especially since his work is a comparative study of the way the dignity of the human person is understood, promoted and defended in two social systems, one Christian and one of philosophic-social origin, The part concerning Pancasila is a very thorough study of the social vision enshrined in this way of life and in particular of the way the dignity of the human person is fundamental to this vision. The part concerning the social doctrine of the Catholic Church is very well done but perhaps not quite as complete as the first part. Pressures of time did not permit him to make as thorough an examination of the corpus of social doctrine as would be desireable. The comparative section is very informative and interesting on the points of convergence and divergence in the two systems. He shows very well how close the two systems are to each other regarding the dignity of the human person and the possibility of collaboration between the followers of both to bring about a society in which the dignity of the human person would be fully recognized.
From the methodological point of view the work is very well presented. His knowledge of English is very good and he has had others check out the text for him as well. The technical methodology is very good and consistent for the notes and the Bibliography including works in German, English, Italian, Indonesian which he has used to very good effect in the work. So I believe publication of the whole work would be a valuable contribution to intersocial and cultural studies and as such recommend highly this work.
