Conducting Educational Needs Assessment
Needs assessment is a topical and growing area of evaluation. It is a process that can be used to document all objective and subjective information considered when making decisions about programs and resources. This book contains six chapters. Chapter 1, an introduction, gives general information concerning definitions, concepts, and practices in the area of needs assessment. Chapters 2 through 6 discuss each important aspect of the needs assessment process: Preparation (developing the foundation), Information Gathering, Analysis (preliminary needs and treatment), Reporting the Needs Assessment Result; and Evaluating the Needs Assessment. Rather than being a compendium of theoretical viewpoints, this volume reflects a recognized authority's goal of providing a useful reference to the educator involved in doing a needs assessment.
