(Deals with both elementary and secondary levels.) * is based on psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg's theory of moral reasoning and development. * shows teachers how to write and present moral dilemma stories. * shows teachers how to have students confront a moral problem, take a moral stand, develop supporting reasons and test their reasoning through group discussions. * presents specific instructions on creating your own moral dilemmas for the classroom. * explains Kohlberg's theory of moral reasoning. * presents samples dilemmas ready for classroom use on both elementary and secondary levels. * presents methods and procedures for stimulating and maintaining effective class discussions on moral problems from the student role, teacher role, classroom atmosphere to a complete step-by-step teaching process. * was developed over a three year period. During the first two years, the authors were associated with the Values Education Project/a joint project involving the Social Studies Curriculum Center of Carnegie-Mellon University and the Laboratory for Human Development of Harvard University.
