There are four accounts of the life of Jesus in the New Testament, sometimes dealing with the same material, sometimes recounting it from different viewpoints. There are differences in emphasis, in chronoloy, and in detail. The purpose of the Life of Jesus Christ is to give one unified continuous account of the life of Jesus, using the work of the four Gospel writers. It is hoped that this will make the story of Jesus more complete and understandable, and that it will lead the reader to examine the original accounts and to discover the unique viewpoint each sacred writer brought to his task. The words of Jesus, because of their special significance to the reader, are printed in red. Marginal notes throughout the text assist the reader in understanding.
