A highly commended volume, INTRODUCTION TO THE NEW TESTAMENT by Werner Georg Kummel, has now been revised. This new edition is styled in the same scholarly manner as the first, with new
efforts to make the volume more useful and readable: literature appearing since 1963 has been considered, and references to bibliography and sources have been placed at the beginning of each section and in footnotes.
Matters dealt with are literary character, theological aim, place and time of writing, and authorship of various writings. Excellent surveys of the origin and development of the canon, history of the text, and the present state of New Testament criticism are also discussed. An asset to ministers, scholars, and libraries, this is a thorough and monumental work.
