This book offers individuals and groups the opportunity to pray Night Prayer taken from the Liturgy of the Hours as restored by the Second Vatican Council. The Liturgy of the Hours is “so arranged that the whole course of the day and night is made holy by the praises of God” (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy,no. 84). As an excerpt from the Liturgy of the Hours, Night Prayer offers all of the faithful the possibility of participating in the prayer of the Church, praying in union with Christ to the Father.
