Sociology

This new edition of Joseph H. Ficther’s Sociology promises to be even more useful to the beginning students in sociology and his teacher than its predecessor. With the insight gained from teaching with his text, Mr. Ficther has compressed separate chapters on categories and aggregates into one, added a new chapter on communities, and rewritten all the other chapters. Also, the specific applications to American social problems and institutions at the end of each chapter – a valuable feature of the first edition – have been brought up-to-date. These applications help bring the scientific principles alive to the student, calling attention to the milieu in which he lives and offering pertinent illustrations of the generalizations contained in the text.
