The Social Reality Of Religion

The Social Reality of Religion attempts to show that, whatever the interest of people with religious commitments in these questions, there are specific answer that the sociologist can give. Professor Berger treats religion as a social product and begins with a clearly defined theory of religion in sociological terms; he continues with two chapters on theodicy and alienation; and finally situation – the process of secularization in the West. While his conclusions do not depend on any religious point of view, an appendix takes up some possible implications of the sociological argument for the theologian.
