This year has witnessed a tremendous attempt to renew the Christian spirit throughout the world. We here at Mount Carmel are indeed fortunate to possess that spirit. It is clearly expressed in our Alma Mater song.
Because of the prominent role which spirit has taken in the world this year, we have chosen our Alma Mater song as the El Conquistador's theme for 'l963. Towards the termination of a world- shattering battle, our "Alma Mater" was composed by the faculty in 1945. We had escaped the hatred and bloodshed which were synonymous with war.
Our "Alma Mater" has since radiated o spirit which penetrates both the students and the athletic teams. The very name, "Alma Mater”, encompasses both the school itself and its song. As the title suggests, we receive life from our school, not only intellectual, but also spiritual. This song depicts the gratitude of all Crusaders toward Mount Carmel. In sincere tribute, therefore, to Mount Carmel, we gratefully pursue this theme.
