We witness around us today a growing invoLvement of Laity, priests, and religious in new ministries-formation, working for justice, building BECs, caring for the earth as well as a wide range of parish ministries. The exercise of such ministres is physically, psychologically and spiritually demanding on those involved. This is particularly true of those walking with the poor and engaged in issues of justice.
In response to these needs, a new ministry of support and companionship is gradually evolving. This new ministry includes journeying with others in prayer through retreats, prayer workshops and spiritual guida nce.
Journeying with Others is offered in response to the needs of those becoming involved in a formal way in the ministry of companionship. It is meant to be a handbook serving those beginning this ministry and as an encouragement to those who, despite professional training, are stit[ hesitant to begin.
