The glory of God is man fully alive. Each man and woman is a unique creation of God, meant to give him glory by being fully, uniquely, differently the personal work of art God meant him or her to be. Thus my first duty as a person is to be myself in the totality of God's creative dream for me from an eternity of love.
Strangely, this is also the most difficult thing to be. Society and environment and history and tradition bear down on me to make me conform to the patterns that are considered acceptable, respectable and safe. The unique work of art, that is humbly me, is debased into a standardized assembly-line factory product. " Submit and live" is the hidden but universal commandment of a society that grows more and more controlling, possessive, informatically tyrannical. Against that oppression of the mind we have to find our individuality to redeem society and restore the Kingdom.
This book is a pointer in that essential direction, to awaken the mind to the growing menace, to light up the courage to stand against the tide, to indicate means to enhance the individual character into the fullness of its untapped potential. The courage to be myself is the courage to live fully.
