As Mission Procurator, my assignment is to care the financial well-being of our foreign missions in Peru, Brazil, Indonesia and Rhodesia. There had been an established pattern for fund raising but in 1974 the proceeds decreased and something had to be done to raise enough for mission budgets so help to the mission poor could continue.
An idea that was strengthened by market research saw appearance of the “Saint of the Month” letter, inaugurated January 1975. Monthly a life of a selected saint was researched and written and sent out. The enthusiasm with which it was received vindicated the idea and it continues. It is sent out without obligation; when possible a donation is asked for the missions. This presents volume contains the first forty lives published.
