What Is Christian Life
To live as a Christian has always been hard and today, with the climate of opinion in most parts of the world hostile or indifferent to the Christian faith, it has become even more difficult. In this book Father Liégé explores the true dimensions of Christian life at its richest and fullest. He looks at it first from the point of view of non-Christians and shows how many Christians still have a totally inadequate conception of God. He goes on to stress that the essence of the Christian life lies not in adherence to an ethical code or "respectability" or a set of "answers" to all the hardships of living, but rather in the confidence that comes from a total act of faith in the mystery centred upon Jesus Christ. Father Liégé considers also the nature of conversion, sin, prayer, the difficulties experienced by the Christian in modern secularized technological societies and the place of renunciation in the life of the Christian who is "in the world but not of it".
