Art And The Social Order
Modern theories of the origin and function of art are often disturbing, particulary to the artis. Their tendency to over-emphasize social and historical influences frequently deprives the artist of all claim to personal inspiration and creativity. In reaction to this, many critics have swung unfortunately fat the other way. These critics imply that the act of creativity accours in total isolation from the rest of society. The aim of “Art and The Social Order” is to demonstrate why the primary and most appropriate way to approach art is through its aesthetic qualities, but at the same time emphasize that all art function within a context, that it relates and reacts to the society of which it is a part.
