Five years have passed since we witnessed the introduction of a more representative portion of Scripture to be read to the people over a cycle of three years. This enriched fare provided for the faithful at the able of God has also been coupled with a greater insistence on the Sunday homily, which is not to be readily omitted. In this same period we have also witnessed a great proliferation of homily aids and services to assist the preacher in expounding the mysteries of faith and the guiding principles of the Christian life in light of the Liturgy of the Word.
This volume concludes the three-year series (which began in 1973, with Cycle C) written by Father Fichtner. The series is designed to help the priest or deacon in the preaching apostolate by sharing with them the author's insights into the "B" cycle of scriptural readings for Sundays and Holydays. The themes combine the insights of modern biblical research with ways of applying the central message of the readings to the practical problems of Christian living.
