Fritz Kunkel: Selected Writings

Firtz Kunkel (1889-1956) is one of the pioneers of modern depth psychology. Born in Germany, Kunkel became a disciple and colleague of Alfred Adler after World War I, and later he corresponded with Car Jung. By the 1920’s Kunkel had developed his own theory of psychology that was based on an understanding of “We-feelings’ among people. He was the author of numerous books that continue to be widely read, particularly in Europe. In 1939 Kunkel traveled to the United States where he eventually settled. He continued as a writer and therapist in California until his death.
This volume contains selected portions of Kunkel’s two most important works, How Character Develops and In Search of Maturity. It also contains a newly-written introductions and commentaries by John A. Sanford, himself a therapist and author of many books including The Kingdom Within and The Invisible Partners.
