Of late, there has been a great demand for books on prayer and particularly on prayer in the Bible. Yet, apart from the psalms the Old Testament remains largely a terra incognita, an unexplored land, in the spiritual outlook of today’s christians. In the 2nd century, the Church was agitated by a heresy called Marcionism' that denied the godly value of the Old Testament. Marcionism was condemned and disappeared and the very name of Marcion is practically unknown today. Yet, strangely enough, many a christian today is an unconcious Marcionite so far as his practical attitude to the Old Testament is concerned. The merit of this book on prayer is that it is mostly based on the Old Testament and that it lays open the riches with which, unfortunately we are not familiar with. Another merit is that it follows the text closely. Without indulging in adventurous speculations, the author allows the text to speak for itself to help us to open our ears and hearts to the message of the Word of God.
