This is not a book "about" prayer, but rather a book of insights that draw their inspiration basically from the great Byzantine Christian mystics but re-interpreted in the context of a process theology that stresses prayer more as a state of experiential existence rather than a thing to be done. The chapters on prayer as listening, growth in contemplation, Eastern mysticism, the Jesus Prayer, man made according to the Image of God, the centrality of Jesus Christ as Logos in an evolutive process of cosmic dimension, the need of poverty of spirit or interior weeping to be healed by the mercy of Cod and finally on the transfiguration open us lo the riches of the Christian East and this world becomes marvelously contemporary and meaningful to the reader.
