Scattered among the doctrinal and disciplinary statements of the Catechism of the Catholic Church are quotations from 73 ecclesiastical writers – the Father of the Church, the Doctors of the Church, the mystics, and the theologians from throughout the ages. Each of these writers were “beacons of light” as they tried to each others to walk in the light of Christ, Some of their quotes serve to strengthen the positions presented; others are reflective passages. Through this book, father Louis Miller presents a brief biographical sketch of each of these great ancestors in the faith. They range from Origen in the third century, to Elizabeth of the Trinity in our own century. There are also distinguished founders of religious orders or congregations: Francis of Assisi, Dominic, Ignatius of Loyola, and Alphonsus Liguori.
Beacons of light is a great reference of these important writers and their accomplishments. Both individuals and groups will also find it a useful companion to the Catechism.
