This collection of all basic church texts on social communication is probably up till now unique and will soon advance to a 'must' for everybody studying or teaching social communication. Especially helpful for a first orientation are the introductions of the editor which introduce to the origin and importance of the different texts. Beside the internal official numbering of the individual documents the book has an additional ongoing numbering-similar to the wellknown theological documents collection of 'Denzinger'-which
allows simple and easy quotations from the different texts.
This book is 'all that you want to know about the church's view on the Media and did not know where to find it'. Fr. Eilers has done a fantastic job of putting all church documents from 'Vigilanti Cura' of Pius XI (1936) to the latest, and as a bonus given the Holy Fathers' World Communication Sunday messages from 1967-93.
